Laura Kiesel
Staff Scientist
Laura recently joined the Climate Economics Group as a researcher and policy analyst. Her work focuses on the ecological and economic implications of climate change and various policy implementation scenarios in the U.S. and Canada. Laura received her B.A. in English and Journalism from SUNY New Paltz in 2001. She worked consecutive positions for the Capitol Hill office of the National Wildlife Federation and the Alaska Conservation Foundation (ACF) in Anchorage. For ACF, she worked specifically on imminent climate change issues affecting the state on both the community and legislative level. After ACF, she worked as a marketing and communications assistant for Green Seal, Inc. Laura returned to school and received her M.Sc. in Natural Resources, with a concentration in Environmental Policy and Communication, from the University of Vermont in January 2010.
Laura is also a writer and journalist. Her articles have appeared in many outlets, including Vermont Woman, E Magazine, Z Magazine, and SolveClimate.com. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, slamming poetry, hiking up mountains, and hanging out with her two cats.
